We Packed the Car follows a family and their woodgrain station wagon through the complete arc of the weekend trip: the driveway at dawn, everything fitting in the back, rest areas, the road getting smaller, camp becoming home, one more weekend, and the drive home.

This is not a technical history or specification guide. It is an illustrated study of ritual, patience, and the ordinary heroism of getting everyone — and everything — into the car.
